In 1937 Al Moen was working to earn money for college. He turned on one of the old fashioned two handle faucets and he had to jump back because of the scalding water.
This near scald set in motion the idea that changed faucets, forever. With this inspiration Al Moen created the world’s first Single Handle Faucet.
This was not the end for Al Moen, he tried to sell his invention to numerous plumbing manufacturers. Most past on the idea. However, Ravenna Metal took a chance and Moen was on it’s way to becoming a the brand name for Faucets.
Al Moen has held over 75 patents. Mr. Moen’s inventions include the single handle faucet, the screen aerator, the replaceable faucet cartridge, push button shower diverter, swivel spray, and pressure balanced tub and shower valves.
